#GiveBackFridays: Save the Bay

Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty is committed to the preservation of the beautiful coastlines of Rhode Island. Our state may be small, but our coastlines are abundant with nearly 400 miles of shore. Narragansett Bay, located on the north side of Rhode Island Sound, covers almost 150 miles. It is New England’s largest estuary, and today, many consider Narragansett Bay to be one of Rhode Island’s most important natural resource.

Save the Bay, an independent, member-supported, nonprofit organization is dedicated to protecting and improving Narragansett Bay. The group works to establish a fully swimmable, fishable, healthy bay. This mission is carried out through advocacy, education, and habitat restoration and adaptation. According to Save the Bay’s website, Narragansett Bay, “once choked by raw sewage and dying a slow death from industrial toxins, is now making a strong comeback. More people than ever before are able to swim, fish, sail and enjoy the waters of Narragansett Bay. In fact, the cleanup of Narragansett Bay is a national success story.”

Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty has had the pleasure of supporting Save the Bay on a number of occasions. We have sponsored the “Artists for the Bay Show & Sale”, where displays of creative works by more than 60 local artists, sculptors and jewelers are available for purchase. Most recently, we have sponsored the 2018 and 2019 “Taste the Bay”, a celebration of the flavors, sights, and sounds of Narragansett Bay.
